Ferrous Sulphate is a chemical compound which is necessary for the maintenance of chlorophyll in plants. It also play an important role in the formation and activity of series of respiratory enzymes. The main function of ferrous sulphate is to provide iron to plants, which is needed for the synthesis of chlorophyll and which is used by plants to convert sunlight into energy. Iron is relatively immobile in plants and tends to remain in older leaves because of this newly formed leaves becomes deficient in iron content. Due to low iron supply Iron chlorosis is common in Groundnut, Pulses, Maize, Sorghum, Tapioca, Turmeric and Sugarcane.
